The neighbors are always the last to know

There was a story in the Sunday paper about a couple in Florida who have been accused of spying for Cuba, for many, many years. I was cracking up at the neighbors...who were SHOCKED at the charges.

They just didn't think it was possible the sweet li'l couple next door could be secret agents.

Seriously, don't you think they wanted it that way? If you DID think he could be a spy than he wouldn't have been a very good one, right?

If the neighbors were telling the media "Oh, I totally thought he was a spy. He was so shady and shifty..." then I'm guessing he'd have to turn in his secret decoder ring PDQ.

Instead they are shocked, " taken aback by news of the arrest."

People just crack me up sometimes.
